Throughout the year, the Early Childhood Center (ECC) PTO sponsors community-building events for our school families. Our yearly events include:

July

  • New Family Night: Join the principal of the Franklin School and members of the Franklin community for this  ADULT ONLY evening where you will learn everything you need to know about sending your child to the Franklin School. This workshop style event includes everything from curriculum, communication, parent engagement opportunities, dressing for success in preschool, and selecting the right backpack and lunch box! August

  • Great Start All School Information Night:  This evening event is for ADULTS only. Adults will learn important information about the start of the school year and have the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and visit their classroom. 
  • Sneak Peak Classroom Visits- Adult family member please join your child for a fun morning visit to meet the teachers, friends, and other families.

September

  • Franklin Welcome Back Picnic at Greenleaf Field: Come join old friends and meet new friends at our first community building event of the year! Bring your own dinner and blanket and a nut free snack or dessert to share. You can also bring a ball or other favorite outdoor activity to enjoy with friends.

October 

  • Scholastic Book Fair and Book Fair Family Night : To kick off The Franklin School Book Fair families are invited to shop for books and listen to stories read by a mystery reader. Come join the Fun!  All proceeds will go to support enrichment activities sponsored by the PTO. If you can’t make it to family night, there are additional shopping hours as well as online. 

November 

  • Square 1 Art fundraiser : Celebrate your child’s artistic accomplishments while raising funds for the PTO. Families have the opportunity to purchase memorable keepsakes featuring their child’s artwork. 
  • School Spirit Week: During School Spirit Week students will be asked to wear the school/district colors. Franklin “spirit wear” is sold prior to spirit week to raise funds for the PTO. 
  • Joy Yoga enrichment for students: Students enjoy yoga classes taught by Joy Yoga

December 

  • Community Giving Tree Drive: The Franklin PTO partners with Community Giving Tree in Boxford to help provide for over 7,000 children in need in Northeastern Massachusetts. Clothing and other items in need are collected in bins outside of classrooms. 

January

  • Family Curriculum Night / Super Star Vowels: Enjoy an evening dinner of pizza with your family while being entertained by our own Lively Letter Band followed by an opportunity to engage with your child in Math, Literacy and Writing activities. Lively Letter concerts will also be performed during the school week for students. 

March

  • Read-a-thon: This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps the PTO pay for student enrichment activities (Joy Yoga, Pumpernickel Puppets, KidzFun, Alastair Moock); family events (curriculum night, spring concert); teacher stipends; and more! Children fill out their reading log and claim their “prizes” from our generous local sponsors. 

April

  • Pumpernickle Puppets: Students enjoy a performance by Pumpernickle Puppets during the school day.

May

  •  Celebration of Learning / Open House: Celebration of Learning provides an opportunity for all Franklin students to share their classroom experiences with friends and families.  
  • BOGO Book Fair: Come to our “Buy One, Get One (or Give One!)” book fair! Stock up for summer at this one-night event. The book fair will take place during the Celebration of Learning. Kindergarten classes will attend during the day with their teachers. 
  •  Memorial Day Parade: The Franklin School is invited to march in the annual Melrose Memorial Day Parade. All kids are invited to wear red, white, and blue and feel free to decorate strollers, bikes, and wagons. 
  • KidzFun Enrichment: Students participate in active games run by KidzFun. 

June

  • End of the Year Celebration: Join families in a fun celebration of the completion of the school year.
